Auth0 MCP Server
Official Auth0 MCP server enabling AI tools to securely configure Auth0 tenants using natural language, with OAuth 2.0 Device Authorization Flow and secure credential storage in system keychain.
About this tool
Overview
Auth0 has released an official MCP Server that enables AI tools like Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf and other MCP Clients to securely configure your Auth0 tenant using natural language through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Key Security Features
- OAuth 2.0 Device Authorization Flow: Securely authenticate requests with Auth0
- Secure Credential Storage: Stores credentials in your system's keychain (never exposed in plain text)
- Least Privilege: Requests only essential permissions
- No Raw API Tokens: Enforces secure authentication, scoping, and permissions without handing over direct API access
How It Works
The Auth0 MCP Server receives requests in the MCP format and turns them into actual Auth0 Management API calls while enforcing secure authentication, scoping, and permissions through OAuth 2.0. This allows you to delegate identity management operations to your favorite AI tool.
Capabilities
- List and manage Auth0 applications
- Access and configure APIs (Resource Servers)
- Inspect tenant-level Auth0 Actions
Setup Process
When you initialize the Auth0 MCP Server:
- You go through the device authorization flow
- A browser window opens for you to authenticate to Auth0 and choose your tenant
- Your credentials are safely stored in your system's keychain
Auth for MCP (Securing Your Own MCP Servers)
Auth0 also offers "Auth for MCP" which lets developers securely implement the authorization parts of the MCP spec with OAuth 2.1 and OpenID Connect, providing:
- Standards based discovery and client registration
- Resource scoped tokens
- Token exchange
